"Sacramento" is a song by Deep Dish.

Composition

Vocal collaborator Richard Morel provides "distinctively smoky tones" in the song. According to Jack Smith of BBC, the song derives of the musical genre of rock. David Jeffries of Allmusic noted the presence of a "guitar-heavy" sound.

Response

Critical reception

"Sacramento" received positive reviews from music critics. Ben Hogwood of musicOMH called it excellent and described it as a "faster paced house work out". David Jeffries of Allmusic wrote that the song is a representation of "one of the best cuts" to come from the relationship between Deep Dish and Morel.

Chart performance

"Sacramento" peaked at number nine on the Finnish Singles Chart, becoming Deep Dish's second consecutive top-ten hit in Finland. It entered the singles chart in the Netherlands at number 56 and peaked at number 53 four weeks later.

Sâles, Fribourg

Sâles is a municipality in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. In 2001 the municipality was created when Maules, Romanens, Rueyres-Treyfayes and Sâles (Gruyère) merged.

Geography

Sâles has an area, as of 2009, of 18.8 square kilometers (7.3 sq mi). Of this area, 13.66 km² (5.27 sq mi) or 72.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 3.79 km² (1.46 sq mi) or 20.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.14 km² (0.44 sq mi) or 6.1% is settled (buildings or roads) and 0.19 km² (0.073 sq mi) or 1.0% is unproductive land.

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.7% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.8%. Out of the forested land, 18.6% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.6% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 14.6% is used for growing crops and 56.6% is pastures.

The municipality is located in the Gruyère district. It consists of the villages of Maules, Romanens, Rueyres-Treyfayes and Sâles (Gruyère) which merged in 2001.

SALES

SALES is an American guitar-based pop band from Orlando, Florida. The band’s members are musicians Lauren Morgan and Jordan Shih.

In July 2014, the band was named "Ones to Watch" for the second half of 2014 by The Hype Machine for being one the most blogged artists yet to release a long play album.

The band is independent and self-released their first 7" Single renee/tonka time on December 1, 2013 through the music platform Bandcamp.

History

Morgan (guitar, vocals) and Shih (guitar, programming) formed the band in Orlando, Florida after the longtime friends had been recording music together on and off for several years. Their latest musical project, SALES, is based on vocal and instrumental improvisation as well as sampling.

On January 31, 2014, the first day of the Chinese New Year, the band released their second single titled “chinese new year.” The band subsequently received positive acclaim from music blogs, including CMJ, Stereogum, and Pigeons and Planes. CMJ described the track as a "...sandy, sashaying tune with singer Lauren Morgan’s slightly cooing vocals skipping over upbeat guitars and a little synthy buzz. At least the Year Of The Horse is sounding pretty good so far.”

Fen

A fen is one of the main types of wetland, the others being grassy marshes, forested swamps, and peaty bogs. Along with bogs, fens are a kind of mire. Fens are usually fed by mineral-rich surface water or groundwater. They are characterised by their water chemistry, which is pH neutral or alkaline, with relatively high dissolved mineral levels but few other plant nutrients. They are usually dominated by grasses and sedges, and typically have brown mosses in general including Scorpidium or Drepanocladus. Fens frequently have a high diversity of other plant species including carnivorous plants such as Pinguicula. They may also occur along large lakes and rivers where seasonal changes in water level maintain wet soils with few woody plants. The distribution of individual species of fen plants is often closely connected to water regimes and nutrient concentrations.

Fens have a characteristic set of plant species, which sometimes provide the best indicators of environmental conditions. For example, fen indicator species in New York State include Carex flava, Cladium mariscoides, Potentilla fruticosa, Pogonia ophioglossoides and Parnassia glauca.

Car (Greek mythology)
